Restack was founded in 2021, in the middle of an unplanned experiment. Everyone had gone home, every employee was off the corporate network overnight, and the SaaS applications people had quietly signed up for became the way work got done.
IT leaders lost visibility and control at the same moment. Our answer was SaaS operations: getting a handle on the portfolio, the identities, the data and the risk.
Then our customers kept asking for more. If we were going to look after the SaaS layer, what about identity underneath it? The endpoints. The network. The cloud. The security operations across the lot.
That's how we ended up thinking about the whole hybrid estate as a continuum, from self-hosted through public cloud to SaaS, and how we help organisations find their place on it.
Five years on, we cover the whole estate. Advisory, professional services and managed services across cloud, identity, SaaS, endpoint, network and security. Same principle as day one: work out the simplest thing that does the job properly, then build and run it well.
The current chapter is intelligence. AI is creating a new set of operational and security problems at exactly the same time as it's solving old ones. We're working through both with our customers and our vendors, in the open.
